Jadrija

Croatia / Sibenik-Knin / Jadrija, Sibenik

Jadrija is a favourite seaside resort and weekend place for many inhabitants of Sibenik. It is situated on a peninsula Srima and it spreads from the former islet of St.Andrew's which is nowadays connected to the mainland by a causeway, along the coast. Because of its nearness and good traffic relations with Sibenik (by car and by boat), it was already in 1922 town's beach which was before that situated on the islet of St.Andrew. The visitors couldn't resist the thick pine forrest near the Channel so, they chose beutiful beaches and clear sea on the actual position. Gradually Jadrija became weekend resort with about 500 holiday homes intended in the first place for relaxation of their owners. Besides the inhabitants of Sibenik, Jadrija is visited by numerous tourists and they find accomodation in private rooms, apartments and in the camp site. During summer months there are many sports, cultural and gastronomic events. With the first autumn rains its residents leave looking forward to come back next summer.
